Kazoo! #241: Tasseomancy / Ferne – Nov 20th @ eBar
TASSEOMANCY (Toronto)
Tasseomancy is the musical project of sisters Sari and Romy Lightman who are former members of Austra. Channelling their former forays in psychedelic folk into a kind of lushly accessible, warmly experimental dream-pop along with bandmates Johnny Spence and Evan Cartwright, they explore manipulated sounds, all with mood in mind. That exploration reaches full bloom on their new album ‘Do Easy’, the group’s third full-length release due on November 18th. It’s the sound of a band hitting their richly imagined, luxuriously executed stride.
FERNE (Guelph)
Ferne is the brainchild of Ian Bain. With smooth synth tones and waves of reverb drenched guitars, the debut track ‘Over’ channels the warped R&B sound of Homeshake. With a debut EP slated for December, the full live band consists of Bain alongside Dan Loughrin, Jake Cadieux and Adrien Willem. This is the live premiere of Ferne and Kazoo! couldn’t be happier to be involved.
