Kazoo! fest Weekend Preview

 In Uncategorized

Thanks to everyone who came out to the first two days of Kazoo! Fest. It’s been amazing so far and we’ve still got 3 full days of great stuff to come.

Tonight we’re very excited to be hosting 3 shows. The first show of the night at the Cornerstone will feature Simone Downes, who will be replacing Harbourcoats due to a cancellation. Simone is the voice of Toronto country band One Hundred Dollars. After that we’re excited to present the debut Guelph performance of Eiyn Sof, a set we highly recommend seeing. Keep in mind, the Cornerstone is a very small venue, so please show up early to ensure you get in.

Following that we will be hosting the 20th anniversary show for King Cobb Steelie at Van Gogh’s (1st floor). This will be their first performance after a 5 year hiatus and the evening will feature a whole collection of guests joining them for this rare appearance. You can listen to an interview with them on the CBC Radio 3 Breakfast Club podcast with Vish Khanna. Opening the evening will be M.A.G.I.C., a stripped down electronic version of The Magic. This unique set will be a duo of Geordie and Evan Gordon using synths and samplers to play alternate versions and extended remixes of Magic songs. There are still a few tickets left at the Bookshelf (41 Quebec St) until 5pm today and there will be a limited number available at the door. This show will sell out, so please show up early if you expect to get in.

To close out the evening we will be hosting a late night Kazoo! Show at the Synnema. At 1am will be Hamilton’s best electro skwee duo Miramichi. Following them at 1:45am will be Guelph’s own Skene who will be performing new material. To close off the evening at 2:30am, we’re delighted to have Bonjay who will be sure to bring the dance party. Our friends from Cat People, Dj’s Live Action Fezz and Chadillac will be proving the in-between beats and visuals. Please see our festival map for location details. Also, since this show is late, there will be no alcohol served and it is an all ages event.

On Saturday we’ve got a full day of events from 11am until 3am the following morning. Our popular Zine & Comic Expo kicks off from 11am-4pm with a full roster of creators exhibiting. Check out this really useful guide to our 2011 Zine & Comic Expo. At the same time, we’re co-presenting Jenny Omnichord’s Video Feedback Kid’s Disco at Ed Video. In the evening we’ve got a ton of great shows, check our festival schedule for full details.

We are also hosting a surprise show on Saturday night at 2:30 am, watch our twitter feed for an exciting announcement tomorrow morning about who our mystery headliner will be.
Thanks for supporting Kazoo!
