Day One Perview & Podcast #4

 In Uncategorized

Kazoo! Fest 2011 starts tomorrow night and we’re very excited to get this party started. We’ve got a new episode of our Kazoo! Fest podcast featuring an interview with Pho of Bonjay plus tracks from Evening Hymns, Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt, Kidstreet, D-Sisive and more. You can download it right here.

The first day of Kazoo! Fest kicks off with our Opening Night Party which features a special edition of the Guelph Drink & Draw. The Drink & Draw is a unique opportunity for anyone of any skill level to get together and draw in a relaxed and social atmosphere. We’ll also be displaying drawings from past drink & draw events. We’re also happy to host a really unique project from Martin Eckart, programmer and saxophonist of Guelph-based multimedia crew, Polydactyl Hearts Collective. Martin has created an interactive Video Game Jockey project where participants can play a classic arcade game that will control the sound of music. We’re still not sure what game he’ll be using, but we’ve heard rumours of 4-player Tetris on a huge projector screen. And as if we needed more, we’ll be projected a display of Kazoo! Posters from the last 5 years. So don’t miss out on our launch party, it’s a fun and laid back way to start 5 days of great music and art (plus it’s free!).

After that, we’re hosting the first musical performances of Kazoo! Fest at the Bookshelf e-Bar. The first performance will be from Peterborough songwriter Michael Duguay who is also a member of The Burning Hell. After that we’re delighted to host Montreal’s Elfin Saddle who will be sharing their unique brand of experimental folk music. Elfin Saddle are a part of the renowned Constellation Records family home to bands like Godspeed You Black Emporer, Do Make Say Think, and more. Elfin Saddle will also be screening their film ‘Wurld’ on Thursday night as part of the festival. Closing off the night will be Toronto’s Evening Hymns who will hopefully be performing new material off their forthcoming 2011 release ‘Spectral Dusk’.

There are so many great reasons not to miss these events. Please check our schedule for exact set times and details. We also have a few Crony Passes left for sale at the Bookshelf and a few more tickets for the King Cobb Steelie show on Friday, get them quick.
