Kazoo! Fest 2016: Wednesday Preview

 In Uncategorized

Wednesday
So it might not look like spring out there today but we’re gonna heat things up with the first day of Kazoo! Fest! At noon, we’ve got a free CSA noon-hour concert by Julie Doiron happening on campus in the University Centre that is co-presented with our friends at CFRU 93.3 FM which will be broadcast live.

Then, we’re very excited to start the night off at Silence with a night of film and multimedia performance co-presented with our friends at Ed Video Media Arts Centre. We’ve got the first Ontario screening of Chad VanGaalen‘s award-winning animated film Tarboz start things off. It’s a rare treat to catch this tripped out animated feature about an intergalactic trash collector, so don’t miss it! Then we’ve got the debut performance of Know Your Neighbours, a project created by Jenny Mitchell (Jenny Omnichord, Bird City), Scott Haynes (Shopkeeper), Curtis Walker (Blunderspublik) and Devon Kerslake that was commissioned as part of our Look Hear Micro-Grant in partnership with Ed Video Media Arts Centre. And, to close of our first event of the festival, we’ve got the futuristic theremin pop of Clara Venice.

As soon as we wrap up at Silence, rush over to eBar where we’re featuring local Guelph country band Nicolette & The Nobodies who will be getting things started at 10pm. And check out those trippy live visuals from VERSA who’ve brought their Analog Arsenal to eBar for a 3-day visual residency, as they do live visuals for bands Wednesday to Friday. Then we’ve got Halifax’s Nap Eyes who are touring their critically acclaimed new album, Thought Rock Fish Scale. And to close out our first night of the festival we have one of our favourite Canadian songwriters — ever — the Queen of Sackville, Julie Doiron co-presented with Headless Owl Records.

Oh, and don’t forget to try a Kazoo! Brew, this tasty dry-hopped pale ale is available all week exclusively at Kazoo! Fest venues thanks to our friends at Wellington Brewery.

What a start, what a week. Get out there and explore!
