kazoo213-webSTANLEY BRINKS:
Half Swedish, half Moroccan and strongly inclined to travel the world, Stanley Brinks (AKA André Herman Düne) was born in Paris. After toying with biology, nursing and a variety of jazz bands, he finally became a full time singer-songwriter in the late 1990’s with the groundbreaking, Herman Düne. After a decade of touring Europe, he finally settled in Berlin. There he grew a taste for the early carnival music of Trinidad, feel in love with early European calypso and changed his name to Stanley Brinks.

With an incredibly prolific output – his 100th album came out in 2012 (“Stanley Brinks Hovers”) – some of his music explores the sounds and styles of decadent Sicilian, Arabian folklore, sometimes he mixes South African kwela with european pop while other times he may go off and improvise on the pennywhistle. Whether he is performing solo or with one of his many collaborators (the Wave Pictures, Freschard, Ish Marquez, Mathias Kom, Jeffrey Lewis, Julie Doiron, the Kaniks, etc.), Stanley Brinks is one of the most captivating performers today.

FRESCHARD:
Freschard grew up in a farm in French Burgundy. At 18, she moved to the big city, Paris, where she baked pies and cakes in a cafe. There, a local musician and regular customer called Andre Herman Dune wrote a few songs for her to sing. She called her first E.P. “Neon Orange”. Homeless in Paris, she saved up just enough money to get herself a ticket to New York where she found an old electric guitar and started writing her own songs. In 2004 she moved to Berlin, where she recorded her first of many LPs. One of the most charming artists the Canada’s border guards will ever let cross, be prepared to fall in love with the one and only, Freschard.

NICK FERRIO:
Nick Ferrio is a Peterborough songwriter working in country and folk music. His sophomore album, entitled Amongst the Coyotes and Birdsongs, examines the ferociousness of love and is a subtle, understated and confident collection of songs. Often touring Canada and Europe with a rotating cast of sentimental ladies and gentlemen under the moniker of Nick Ferrio & His Feelings, Ferrio is a master story teller with the songs to back it up. Turn up the charm.
