Kazoo! #147: SHOTGUN JIMMIE / ESTHER GREY / SEQUIN KIT
SHOTGUN JIMMIE:
World traveler, collaborator, under-dog, hard-working man, Shotgun Jimmie staked his claim for the hearts and minds of millions with (the Polaris long-listed) Transistor Sister in 2010. In addition to being one of the hardest working singer-songwriters around, touring endlessly in support of an ever-growing catalogue, Shotgun Jimmie is also one of the nicest, unfailingly sincere guys in Canada. He plays sing-along indie rock that comes straight from his heart of gold and, like the Midas touch, turns everything around it into the same.
ESTHER GREY:
Esther Grey is a Guelph-based guitar and drums duo, often joined on stage by friends, serving up dusty garage folk. With an attraction to junk shop instruments and lo-fi sound, Esther Grey draw inspiration from cartoons, dreams, and yard sale paperbacks. January marked the band’s first release, a split EP with Tyson and his Game Boy recorded in their home studio, Little Room Labs, and released on local cassette periodical, Cassettestival.
