Kazoo! Fest Land Acknowledgement

Kazoo! Fest takes place on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabek Peoples, specifically the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Today, we stand on Treaty 3 or “Between the Lakes Purchase” territory. We acknowledge that these lands are home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island, and we are very grateful to be able to work and to present our music and art in these territories and on these lands. 

Acknowledging the land and the people whose land we are on is just the first step. The long and brutal history of colonialism extends into the present and we recognize the need to be accountable for our participation in that process. We recognize the need for everyone to work for justice and cooperation, to learn and unlearn our histories, and to elevate indigenous voices as we come together to share our music and art.

Kazoo! Fest Audience Policy

Kazoo! Fest respects the rights of each member of our diverse audience, and is committed to providing an environment in which everyone feels safe. Any behaviour which could reasonably be perceived as physically, emotionally, or mentally harmful to individuals at Kazoo! events will not be tolerated. This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, body shaming, ableism, ageism, and all forms of violence.

Everyone has the right to feel safe and included at Kazoo! Fest. If you need help at one of our events or see others in need of help, please talk to a Kazoo! staff member or volunteer – we will ensure that these people are clearly identifiable at all events. Let’s all look out for each other and have a good time!

Kazoo! Fest Accessibility Policy

Kazoo! Festival is committed to removing barriers at our events and to raise awareness surrounding issues of accessibility in Guelph’s music scene. Due to a shortage of affordable accessible venues in the city, it is currently not always possible for us to host every event in a fully accessible space. However, Kazoo! Festival will clearly outline accessibility details in all promotional materials. We recognize that there are many obstacles to participation and our goal is to be aware of accessibility problems that we hope we can resolve to ensure everyone is able to enjoy our events. If you have any questions about accessibility or ways in which you think we could improve accessibility at our event please let us know at info@kazookazoo.ca.

Kazoo! COVID-19 Policy

Kazoo! Fest follows public health guidelines and encourages attendees to wear masks at venues whenever possible. If you are feeling ill, please be considerate and stay home to rest up (we can refund your tickets). We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our community healthy and safe.

The Kazoo! Fest Crony Pass gets you into every ticketed event all weekend including your pancakes and coffee at the Kazoo! Fest Pancake Breakfast show on Sunday morning. Due to limited capacity at PWYC events, we cannot guarantee space for pass holders. The Kazoo! Fest Crony Pass is available for $60 plus service charge until they are sold out.

Advance Tickets are available for all events happening at Royal City Mission, Onyx, and Fixed Gear Canteen. All other events are PWYC (Pay-What-You-Can) including the Kazoo! Print Expo, Kazoo! Backyard BBQ, and all shows at Jimmy Jazz. 

Kazoo! Fest recognizes that we are currently in the middle of a housing crisis in Ontario and that the pandemic has had an uneven impact on people. We aim to keep our ticket prices as affordable as possible while acknowledging the need to compensate artists fairly for their work. We have a number of events marked as PWYC (Pay-What-You-Can) and we invite everyone to attend even if they do not have the means to contribute financially.

In order to ensure our events are truly open and accessible to all people, we are offering special discounted tickets for folks that could use them. Please shoot us a note to info@kazookazoo.ca at least one week before the ticketed event to arrange this. No questions asked, we just want you to be able to enjoy the show.
