Ninja Tune and SoulJazz recording artist Hieroglyphic Being is Chicago-based house and electronic music legend Jamal Moss. Over the past decade Moss has released nearly 100 releases under different aliases, and has collaborated with members of the Sun Ra Arkestra (Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U Ahn-Sahm-Buhl). Whether he is working in deep house, acid house, experimental electronics, ambient, or avant garde jazz, Moss imbues all of his work with spiritual afrofuturism, experimentation, and a dense knowledge of musical history. 2018’s “The Red Note” was one of the year’s best records, period, and Moss’s live show is an unrelenting, cerebral take on high energy acid house.
