JULIE & THE WRONG GUYS
Julie Doiron is a national treasure, starting off in Sub Pop’s grungy outfit Eric’s Trip before moving on to become one of Canada’s best songwriters. Julie & The Wrong Guys filters folk, indie rock, punk rock, grunge, and metal through a distinctly Canadian lens, channeling the vast geography, diverse climate and barren emptiness of the country into a cohesive, exciting musical sound. The group, which features Doiron, Eamon McGrath, and Cancer Bats members Mike Peters and Jaye Schwarzer are celebrating the release of their debut LP on Dine Alone Records. The jaw-dropping fury of Julie & The Wrong Guys, tamed by an equal passion for both the spirit of punk rock and the delicate beauties of songwriting, truly has to be seen and heard to be believed.
Having released their first EP, Lips and Skull, in October 2016, Buzz Records’ Casper Skulls very quickly stirred up a lot of – well – buzz. Hailing from Sudbury, Casper Skulls brought a taste of post-punk, garage rock goodness to a city that desperately needed that cultural shakeup. They have since relocated to Toronto and we’re happy that they’re so close, cause they’re a band you’ll want to keep your eyes on.
Unfortunately, eBar is not an accessible venue.
